MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO BE UNVEILED AT EDGECUMBE

The unveiling of the memorial plaque, which commemorates the sacrifice of soldiers who- went overseas from Edgecumbe and gave their lives in the service of their country, will take place at Edgecumbe on April 22. The memorial service conducted by the combined churches will commence at 1.45 p.m. at the Edgecumbe Public School, where the plaque is to be placed temporarily. As part of the ceremony opportunity will be given for the laying of wreaths.

It is hoped by the committee that th people of the district will set aside that day to pay tribute to the memory of the young men who did not return from World War 11.

Next-of-kin have been invited by letter to attend but if any have been overlooked through lack of information they are asked to regard this as an invitation.
