New Law Bans Child Actors Under 14

The law banning child actors under 14 from British films has sent the industry’s young hopefuls underground. Had the law besn obeyed previously films such as Goodbye Mr Chips, Oliver Twist and The Fallen Idol, all of which have been screened at Whakatane, could not have been made.

When it cracked down on Walt Disney his young star Bobbie Driscoll/was fined £IOO and Disney himself was censured for using him in Treasure Island, British studio chiefs got worried. All films starring child actors are now on the top-secret list and publicity about children will be stifled until production is “in the can.”
