More Wasps Reports of further wasps being caught at Awakeri have been received from Mr F. S. Jones who told the Beacon yesterday that he found and destroyed four wasps nests this week. Three were in a two acre paddock and the fourth he found, in his vegetable garden. Awakeri appears to be one of the districts that has had a particular attraction for the insects. * Road Expenditure Approval has ben given by the Main Highways Board for an expenditure of £30,000 on the Tau-ranga-Katikati section of the WaihiTauranga main highway. This portion of the highway has deteriorated in the last few months and various interests in the nearby districts have been agitating for an improvement. The work will entail some reconstruction and sealing.

Attractive Lay Out The attractively laid out sports ground on the Whakatane Domain drew much favourable comment from those people who attended the annual sports of the Whakatane High School last week. All distances were correctly marked out and the sports were able to be run off easily and without any hitch. Much of this could be attributed to the Work done before hand by senior pupils of the school and the borough. engineer, Mr C. D. Molesworth, in preparing the ground.
