Council To Apply For Hotel License
Application for the extra hotel license recently granted the town is to be made by tije Whakatane Borough Council, the hotel to be controlled by a trust committee. This was decided at a special meeting of the Council last night. In addition to the application the Licensing Commission is to be asked to authorise a poll of electors in the borough on the question.
The matter was first discussed at the last monthly meeting of the Council when it was referred to the Finance Committee to report on. The Committee recommended to the Council that it could apply for the license to run a trust controlled hotel.
