WHAKATANE COMPETITOR HAS GOOD WIN Two Whakatane swimmers, Rex Gillard and Barry Cave, met with some measure of success at the Ohinemutu and Whaka Swimming Club’s carnival held at-Rotorua on Saturday night. The weather was wet and the standard of swimming high, four new Bay of Plenty records being established. In the 50 yards open breaststroke Gillard gained a convincing win in the time of 42 seconds. Cave swam well in the 66 2/3 yards men’s racp and although he won his heat was narrowly beaten for a place in the final.
