BID FOR CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES A strong bid for titles is to be made by five crews of the Whakatane Rowing Club at the Auckland Provincial Rowing Championships at Mercer tomorrow. Since their outstanding success at the Tauranga regatta a fortnight ago, ’when they gained four firsts and one second out of five starts, crews have been training steadily and should they produce form similar to that at Tauranga it is considered that they will be well up with the leaders. , The crews will leave tonight by bus for Hamilton. They wilf remain there the night and continue on to Mercer tomorrow morning returning to Whak'atape after the championships. j The crews are: Juniors: G. Moore (str), E. Hunt (3), L. O. Stewart (2), G. Dines (bow). •. Open Maidens: P. Armstrong (str), S. Shapley (3), W. Sandham (2), G. K. Koea (bow).
Youths under 21: M. Whittaker (sth), M. Brown (3), K. Bowering (2), K. O’Rourke (bow). f Light Maidens: P. Bowering (str), R. Burt (3), R. Seebeck (2), T. Stewart (bow). Youths under 18: D.
