TEAM TO PLAY AT TE PUKE TOMORROW A full programme has been arranged for Whakatane bowlers over the week-end with tomorrow being especially busy. On the Whakatane Club’s greens tomorrow the Shield series games will launch off into the second round at 1.45 p.m. and some hard games are expected. Players are to bring a plate. Also tomorrow a strong Whakatane team has been selected to play for the T. Palmer Memorial Shield at Te Puke. The teams:—

W. Howat, W. R. Sloane, E. Grant, R. F. Smith, C. Loane, A. Mclsaac, H. A. Burgess, G. Caisley.

The teams for the Shield -games are:—

P. Dixon, G. Oswald, J. Wilson, P. Breckon. L. Luxton, C. Pearson, H. Cantrell, R. Wilson. L. Littlejohn, G. Latta, C. R. Coates, P. Sims. S. McKenzie, C. Hollis, R. Morpeth, T. Danks. Feathers game: E. Chamberlain, H. W. Chambers, H. Morgan, D. Bridger. OLDTIMERS MEET AT OHOPE A friendly game of bowls between the older members of the Taneatua and Ohope Bowling Clubs resulted in both teams winning a game each at Ohope on Tuesday. As a result a play-off will be held at Taneatua later in the season. The teams were: Taneatua, J. Rae (skip), C. O’Brien, J. Moody, A. McGougan; Ohope, J. Warner (skip), P. Barr, F. Gearing, W; Bradshaw. The first game resulted in a win for Taneatua, 18-14 but in the second Ohope turned the tables with a 24-14 victory.
