Fines Imposed For Traffic Offences

Several fines for, traffic offences were imposed by Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Percy Pankhurst Wood (Mr Otley) sawmiller, Te Teko, was fined a total of £6 10s, costs £2 12s, for operating a truck exceeding rear axle weight, no warrant of fitness, defective brakes and exceeding heavy traffic license at Te Teko on January 16. Whakatane Board Mills, Ltd., fined £2, costs 10s, for operating heavy motor vehicle which exceded the heavy traffic ‘license. A total fine £2 ss, costs 245, was imposed on Raymond Edward McKay, driver, . Edgecumbe, for riding a motor cycle and not being in possession of a driver’s license, and for exceeding the speed limit in a restricted area. For operating a motor vehicle with a defective handbrake Donald George Campbell, farmer, Whakatane, was convicted and fined £l, costs 425. George Ernest King (Mr Otley) farmer, Otakiri, was fined 10s, costs 20s 6d, for operating an unregistered tractor on the Whakatane-Rotorua State highway:-
