Surf Lifesaving

WHAKATANE TEAM S SUCCESS

The Whakatane Surf Club's women’s team had further success at the Waihi surf life saving championships yesterday when they won the junior four-man alarm and six-man events, gained a third in the combined march past and were second in the points prize. In addition Miss C J Windley, who won this event at the New Zealand Championships, was second in the resuscitation.

As Whakatane had the only women’s team »at the championship they competed against the junior teams and were easy winners in the water events. The. surf wa3 calm and the weather fine. The Whakatane men’s team competed in the four-man alarm but were disqualified on some technical point.
