Car Sales Break Records
Wellington, March 3
By a wide margin Austin sales of vehicles and spares achieved a new record during 1949 with a total value or £52,041,000 for the year, or an average of over £1,000,000 a week. This figure is given in an official statement, which also reveals that 136,596 Austin vehicles were despatched during 1949, and 10,500 tons of spares, in producing which Austin workers earned £B,812,000.
