Record Attendance At R.S.A. Picnic

A record attendance of over 200 parents and children thoroughly enjoyed the annual R.S.A. picnic at Thornton Beach on Saturday. Children were well catered for with races for- all ages, sweets scrambles, a treasure hunt, and a splendid supply of delicious water melons given by Mr Stan Cannell. Highlight of the day was the first public appearance of St. Andrew’s Highland Pipe Band, resplendent in new uniforms, to give, a number of items. The race for Kiwis drew a big field. Result: Shaw 1, D. Wilson (fell) nearly 2. The tug-o’-war was won by the ''country . team, 2 to 1.
