Average Wage £8 1s 5d
The average weekly wage for men, women and juveniles in New Zealand has risen from £6 8s 4d in October, 1946, to £8 Is 5d in October last year, according to the half yearly survey of employment issued by the Department of Labour and Employment. In October, 1947, the average was £6 19s Id and the following year, £7 7s 9d. From 1946 to last year the total labour force rose from 411,583 to 450,104, and the weekly wage and overtime payouts grew from £2,650,617 to £3,*632,663.
