Successful Red Cross Appeal Held

The annual appeal for funds for the Eastern Bay of Plenty Red •Cross Centre at Whakatane on Friday met with a good response, over £l6O for the General Purposes Fund bfeing raised. Home-made cakes, jam and pickles, cream and garden and farm produce were sent in generous amounts from country centres and made 'quick sales. Street collectors t, met with a generous response from the public, and several told of returned servicemen, and ex-prisoners of war, who paid tributes to the Red and backed their words with , generous donations.
