Clothing Factory To Be Built At Opotiki

A well known Auckland provincial manufacturing firm has -decided to establish a clothing factory at Opotiki which will be staffed by Maori workers from that town and the surrounding coastal area. This is the result of negotiations extending over the past three years urging manufacturers to decentralise their factories and make available employment for workers away from the cities and larger towns. Arrangements have been made to secure a building and a small foundation staff has been selected. The future expansion will be governed by the success of the venture.
