POVERTY BAY WINS REID CUP GAME

Poverty Bay had a convincing win over Bay of Plenty to the tune of 23 games to nine in a representative tennis match for the Reid Cup played at Opotiki during the weekend. Poverty Bay proved to be superior in all sections although in the men’s singles Bay of Plenty won four of the seven games played. MATATUA MAORI TEAM After trial games were played at Te Teko on Saturday the following team was selected to represent Matatua Maori Tennis Association against Takitimu at Gisborne on Saturday:— Men: B. Peni, S. McLaughlin, N. Ranapia, S. Davis. Women: N. Allison, C. McLaughlin, M. Howell, A. McCullough. Playing manager, P. Howell.
