Record Of Progress Of Dairy Industry In Bay Of Plenty
No part of New Zealand could show a more attractive record of progress than the Bay of Plenty, declared the Hon W. F. Doidge, Minister of External Affairs, when opening the Katikati Agricultural and Pastoral Show. Before leaving Wellington recently he had obtained figures which showed for the 1948-49 season that the output for Bay of Plenty dairy factories was 16,000 tons of butter and 1040 tons of cheese.
On these figures then Bay of Plenty produced 10 per cent of New Zealand’s total dairy output. It was known that there was still scope for great expansion in the Bay of . Plenty, Mr Doidge said. The Government would do all it could to open the door of opportunity to those with the willingness and ability to unlock the potential increase in production.
