English Visitor Addresses Waimana Women's Institute

Mrs Stobbs, a visitor from London, addressed the monthly meeting of the Waimana W.I. on the town of Benfleet, the Institute’s English link, which she is familiar. The people could not thank Zealanders enough for ■parcels, • she said. Mrs Hewitt was elected president for the coming year, unopposed, and held the chair. A letter was received from North Benfleet expressing grateful thanks for parcels received, and it was decided to forward a further parcel of dried fruit.

A garden party in aid of headquarters building fund, was planned and is to be held at Mrs Wylde’s home on March 8. The Taneatua, Waimana and Nukuhou Institutes will be taking part.

Mrs Hewitt presented Mrs Woolfield with a shoulder spray and diary, wishing her every good wish and a pleasant voyage to the British Isles. An interesting travel talk on The Isle of Man, was given by Mrs W. McConnell. Competitions were judged by Mrs 3. Burnett and Mrs Stobbs. Results:— Best single flower, Mrs Hodgson 1, Miss J. Stevens 2, Mrs Hewitt 3; best multiple flower, Mrs F. Bell 1, Mrs M. King 2, Mrs Hodgson 3; best vegetable, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs C. Bell 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; fruit, Mrs King 1, Mrs Wylde 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; crochet edging, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs Bettleheim 3; Xmas cake, Mrs Potter 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs Hewitt 3.
