Otakiri W.I. Members Are Presented With Gifts From England

Two new members were welcomed, Mrs A. Ryburn and Mrs H. Wallen, to the monthly meeting of the Otakiri Women’s Institute, presided over bv Mrs J. Carr. Remits for the annual Council meeting were discussed and arangements finalised for the Whakatane-Rangitaiki A. and P- Show to be held this month. Nominations were received for president and committee for the coming year. Two songs were sung by Miss Jill Lockyer, a junior member. One of the main features of the meeting was a presentation to each member of a propelling pencil, sent from the link in Britain, the Gumblesforth W. 1., Yorkshire, in appreciation of food parcels sent every month from Otakir;. Competition winners:— Vegetable, Mrs Lockyer 1, Mrs Peck 2, Mrs Winters 3; single flower, Mrs John Murray, 1, Mrs J. Murray 2, Mrs Winters 3: double flower, Mrs Carr 1, Mrs Murray 2, Mrs Winters 3; savoury dish,, Mrs Peck 1; dining table decorator, Mrs Hallett 1, Mrs Armstrong 2, Mrs Carr 3.
