Address On Mission Work In China Is Given Nukuhou W.I.

Final arrangements, were made for the shop window and cut flower display at tbe Whakatane A. and P. Show by the monthly meeting of the Nukuhou Women’s Institute, presided over by Mrs C. P. Wyide. Mrs E. Cranswick was elected to take' charge of the cut flowers, f Mission work done by her parents in China was the subject of an interesting address by Mrs D. N. Perry, Opotiki. Her mother had been organist at church services and at first it had been strange to see the Chinese men and women at church, the men on one side and the women on the other.

Mrs Perry herself was born in Yanking and was educated in China. Missionary schools in that country were doing excellent work-

Miss Cranswick, who leaves soon to enter training college was presented with a bouquet by Mrs Wylde. The competitions were judged by Mrs lan Grant and Mrs Perry. Results: Best vegetable, Mrs C. Menzies 1, Mrs M. King 2, Mrs F. Grant 3. Single flower, Mrs Grant 1, Mrs Poole 2, Mrs E. Cranswick 3. multiple flower, Mrs King 1, Mrs *R. Bell 2. fruit, Mrs F. Robinson 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs Cranswick 3. Jar of tomatoes, Mrs King 1, Mrs Grant 2, Mrs Menzies 3. Xmas cake, Mrs Cranswick 1.
