PERSONAL

Mr and Mrs S. S. Shapley, who have been in Auckland to attend the British Empire Games, have returned to Whakatane. Mr H. M. Carter, stationmaster at Edgeeumbe, leaves today on transfer as clerk in charge of the goods shed, Wairoa. The Hon. W. Sullivan, Minister of Labour, returns to Rotorua by air today and will arrive at Whakatane tomorrow evening. The Hon. W. S. Goosman, Minister of Works, will be in Whakatane next week. As the Minister has only a limited time in which to inspect many major projects, it will not be possible for him to receive deputations on this occasion.
