Complaints Of Local Nightsoil Service

Further complaints about the borough nightsoil service were received by the Whakatane Borough Council this week but after consideration it was felt that nothing could bg done at present until the Works Committee had conferred with the contractor. This meeting is expected to take place tomorrow. While he agreed that the present service might not, perhaps, be as good as it should be the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, said it was better than no service at all. He hoped that an improvement would follow after tomorrow’s meeting.

Reporting to the Council the health inspector, Mr A. R. Knights, said that he had been receiving complaints of the service, which was, at present, very bad. He recommended that the Council ta k ke appropriate action under the 1920 Health Act.
