AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR TOURNAMENT

(Special to Beacon) Sydney, February 10.

Leading amateur golfers from all States and New Zealand will be invited to play with professionals in the McWilliam’s Wines £2,500 Golf Tournament to be staged at Australian Club’s Kensington course on March 23, 24, 25. Believing promising young players would gain valuable experience by playing with the top professionals under competitive conditions, the P.G.A., in issuing 1 the invitations, will give special consideration to those young and juniors of outstanding ability. The innovation of inviting amateurs to play in professional tournaments was introduced for the first time in Australia last year by the organisers of the McWilliam’s Wines tournament, and has since been followed with success in similar events.
