Tributes Paid To Fire Brigade

A tribtue to the efforts of the Whakatane Volunteer Fire Brigade in watching the recent fire at the Heads was paid by the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, at the monthly meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council. Had it not been for the continual service of the brigade the mayor said he thought a number of houses may have been burned or seriously damaged. The deputy-mayor, Cr C. S. Armpaid a similar tribute.

It was decided to make a donation to the brigade’s social funds and to send a letter of thanks.
