No Fires To Be Lit In Whakatane County

Following a fire that was lit by a farmer on Thursday and broke out of control the fire officer for the Whakatane County, Mr C. H. Brebner, has issued a further warning that nres must not be lit anywhere out in the open in the county until further notice. Mr Brebner said that it was imperative that fires were not lit outside. It was very easy for even a small outbreak to, spread and break away with the possibility of much damage being done. He referred to a fire lit by a farmer which had got away. Before the blaze was brought under control county workmen had to be called in for assistance.
