Mr D. Blomfield, Whakatane, District Commissioner of the Whakatane Pony Club, left on Wednesday to visit Auckland.
Mrs P. Stewart retired from the Whakatane telephone exchange last week after five years service- with the post office. s Dr George F. Morton, of the Leeds Rotary Club, is at present visiting the Bay of Plenty as the guest of Mr G. H. Checkley, Thornton.
Mr E. Wilson, Whakatane, is at present on annual holiday and intends visiting the British Empire Games at Auckland next week.
Mr J. Muncaster, clerk of the court, Whakatane, leaves today for Auckland where he will attend the Empire Games.
Messrs K. D. Burt (written part) and J. T. Chadwick (practical part) were successful Whakatane candidatek in the recent electrical wiremen’s examinations.
Mr Reg." Johnson, who has been living at Whakatane for the past nine months, returns on Tuesday to Wellington, where he has accepted an appointment as foreman in a plastics factory.
