COMPETITION MATCHES TO RESUME
Cricket matches of the Whakatane Association continue this weekend for all teams, except Waimana, which takes the bye. At Whakatane on Sunday P. and T. will play Edgecumbe in their third meeting this year, while at Taneatua Te Teko is to play Taneatua. Tomorrow United will travel through to Opotiki to play an Opotiki team in a one day match. WEEK-END TEAMS P. and T. to play Edgecumbe at Whakatane on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. All players to be at the ground by 9 a.m.: J. B. Rivett, Paton, Cleland, Shapley, Malaquin, Jones, Witcher, Seebeck, Littlejohn, Emmerson, B. Whiteside. W. D. Rivett 12th man. Whakatane United to play Opotiki at Opotiki tomorrow: N. Rigden, W. Crawford, D. Bull, W. Kirk, W. Alexander, W. McKenzie, R. Gilard, D. Carling, R. Goodall, G. Howard, M. Gillard. (All players to be at Mr Rigden’s residence at 8.15 a.m.) Te Teko to play Taneatua at Taneatua: Tunnicliffe, Revell, Lyon, Griffiths, Patterson, Sparks, Theobald, Miller, Woods, Dobson, R. Latimer, Mayo. (Players meet at Te Teko Post Office at 8.30 a.m.) TROPHY ROWING RACES The final trial fours of the Whakatane Rowing Club before the season’s first regatta at Hamilton, on the anniversary week-end will be contested on the river tomorrow morning at 9.30 a.m. Racing for the Armstrong Cup crews will race over a mile and finish at the club shed.
