Whakatane Rider’s Win At Ellerslie

A young Whakatane rider, Colin McLean, had the distinction of riding Gay Sari for a win in the apprentices’ race at the Ellerslie New Year races, the horse paying the largest dividend on the day and the second largest for the meeting.

Young McLean, a promising rider who already had a second place to his credit, is appreiticed to Mr A. Cook’s Te AWamutu stables.
