Volunteers Build Barn In A Day

More than 750 friends and neighbours of a farmer gathered recently at his property in Ohio, in midwestern United States, to erect a new barn to replace one destroyed by fire. The concrete foundations of the barn had been laid previously, and the timber cut to size. Work started early in the morning, and by 9.30 most of the framework had been erected. A total of 569 men swarmed over the rapidly rising structure, some wooing on the walls and roof, and others in the stables below. At noon, the men enjoyed a meal prepared by 189 wives and daughters who were pre'sent, and then resumed their building. By evening, the barn had been finished, including horse stalls, cow bails,' grain bins, hay racks, doors, and windows.

OARS AT LAST!

After having been well and truly stuck for oars, the Whakatane Rowing Club has at last had definite advice from Australia two sets are on the way. This satisfactorily completes a long search, and will ease what was becoming quite a difficult situation.
