WEDDING
SHAW—DAWSON
A pretty wedding was solemnised recently at St. Andrew’s Church* Palmerston North, oiv December 3, when Amy Elizabeth, younger daughter of Mr F. A. Dawson, and the late Mrs Dawson, Awakeri, was married to Trevor Howick Shaw, only son of Mr and Mrs I. S. Shaw, Palmerston North.
Rev. J. Hubbard, M.A., 8.D., officiated, and Mr Allan was the organist. The church was decorated by friends of the bride.
The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful gown of cream faconne of a leaf design, fashioned on classical lines, with a heart-shaped neckline, inset with pearls, and the full skift fell in graceful folds from the waist to form a long train. Her veil of tulle fell from a halo of orange blossoms and pearls, and she carried a bouquet of Christmas lilies, carnations and maidenhair fern. Attending the bride was her sister, Miss Betty Dawson, of New Plymouth. She in pink taffeta. Adorning her hair was a topknot of pink velvet flowers. She parried a bouquet of pink sweet peas and carnations. Mr Don Keen, of Awakeri. was best man.
‘During the signing of the register “I’ll Walk Beside You” was beautifully sung by the young tenor, John Judd of Palmerston North. Following the ceremony, .a reception was held in the National Club Rooms, which were decorated with palms and' flowers. Duties of hostess were capably carried out by Mrs Graham, of Awakeri, who received the guests wearing a royal blue ensemble and bat to tone, with a shoulder spray of pale, pink carnations aad maidenhair fern. Mrs Shaw wore a navy ensemble and hat to match, with a shoulder spray of delphiniums and maidenhair fern. The duties of toastmaster were ably carried out by Mrs L. Shaw. Among the guests present were many of the bride’s, relatives from New Plymouth, and many friends of both bride and gridegroom from the Bay of Plenty. Numerous congratulatory telegrams were received. After the reception, the happy couple left by car for Wellington on a motor tour of the South Island, the bride wearing a tailored suit of strawberry pink, with white accessories.
Mr and Mrs Shaw received many beautiful and useful presents. They intend to live at Otakiri. ,
