No Organised Sport At Whakatane Over The Holiday Period

There will be little organised

sport at Whakatane over Christmas ' and the new year although tennis courts and bowling greens will be open to those who want to play these sports. Weekly competitions in all sports concluded last week and will not now resume until early in January. Tennis, athletics and cricket will he at a standstill as far as competition is concerned but crews of the Whakatane Rowing Club will continue training for regattas over the holidays. Although the Whakatahe Surf Club has no competitions until January 15 teams are to continue training in the meantime. There will be bowling tournaments on the Whakatane greens on December 26 and 27 and January 2 and 3.

Girls’ marching, highland dancing, horse events, motor cycling and athletics will be featured at the Ohope Progress League’s gala day •on January 2.
