International Day For Matata W.I.
International Day which comes in November for Matata Institute members, was spent by a , very pleasant visit to the residence of Mrs Marr. Members admired the beautiful flowers and shrubs, also the fruit trees, with ""their promise of future bounty.
Mrs K-. Stewart, Whakatane, gave an interesting talk on Ireland, and a demonstration on the making of shoulder posies, from thin wire and coloured silks. Afternoon tea was served by Misses J. Anderson and P. Burt. Community singing of Irish songs around the piano was enjoyed after tea. “Pennies for friendship” were collected and the proceeds of the sales table were for the Dominion Building Fund. Competition results:—
