Another Successful Dance At Awakeri

On Saturday night a successful dance was held at the Awakeri Hall and a gay crowd appeared to enjoy their evening’s entertainment. The jackpot quiz was not collected again and next dance on December 10 it will be worth £7 10s. Extra novelties are also planned for that occasion.

“Unfortunately, the home-made suppers are to cease for a period at least,” the committee reports. “For the past four months Awakeri women have supplied these very tasty suppers and the Hall Committee at this stage (and presumably the dancing public) would like to state what a splendid job they have done. Apart from being much more enjoyable, these suppers have very considerably assisted the income of the Hall Committee towards its objective—eventually a bigger, brighter and more convenient hall in the form of a memorial centi e in honour of local lads who gave their lives in the recent war. However with the busy season approaching, farmers’ wives feel they must discontinue this work until they have more time.” The two dances on December 1U and 17, however, will be, special efforts, and the committee feels confident that these and the dances to follow will be worthy of patronage.
