CREWS CONTEST FIRST TRIAL FOUSS There were some good rowing performances at the first trial foiur races of the Whakatane Rowing Club on Saturday-when crews competed for the Bergman Trophy. The final was between the stroke of last year’s successful crew, L. O. Stewart who captained G.Angus (3), D. Wells (2) and Stubbs (bow) 'and a crew stroked by P. Armstrong with G. K. Koea (3), W. Sandham (2) and K-. Kane (bow).

This ended as one of the closest finishes of the day. From the start Armstrong's crew drew away' to i a sjight lead and managed to hold; this until the finish, despite a strong challenge by Stewart's crew, which just failed to gain at the post.
