Presbyterian General Assembly
Next Tuesday will see an influx of Presbyterians to Timaru when representatives from all over New Zealand will gather for their annual Assembly. On Tuesday evening the incoming Moderator will be installed and give his inaugural address. The Rev Ronald S. Watson, M.C., E.D., M.A., of St. Andrew’ ! s Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, the new Moderator, will preside over the business sessions which will continue until Wednesday, November 16.
Mr Watson was ordained to the Ministry in 1915 and inducted into his present charge in 1941. He had a distinguished career as a Chaplain to the Forces in the 1914-18 conflict, in which he was awarded the M.C. Mr Watson has an engaging personality, has always appealed to Youth and on many occasions has taken part in Youth Camps and Conferences. He is at present convener of one of the most important Committees in the Church, the Theological Hall Committee, which is responsible for the recruitment a'nd training of young men for the ministry.
