SINGLE MEN WIN P. & T. MATCH In Sunday’s Married v Single match organised by the P. and T. Cricket Club and played on the Domain the bachelors won on the first innings. v Single Ist innings 149 (Cleland 34, Shapley 44, B. Whiteside 21 not out; Neal 4 for 51, Paton 3 for 42, J. B. Rivett 3 for 34). 2nd innings 59. for 5 wickets, declared (Emerson 17, Fitzsimmons 15 not out; Rivett 2 for 6). Married, Ist innings 82 (J. B. Rivett 15, W. Rivett 12, W. Penny 10; McKenzie 2 for 4, Shapley 2 for 9, Littlejohn 2 for 5). UNITED BEATS HIGH SCHOOL Whakatane United cricketers played the High School on Saturday and won outright by 30 runs. Of necessity the game was of a light-hearted nature and proved very enjoyable to both the boys and the United team. Mention must be made of the splendid fielding of Fitzsimmons of the High School team. United: First innings, 93. (McKenzie 30 not out, Brown 5 for 25). 2nd innings 75 for 6 declared (Alexander 27, Brown 5 for 28). High School: Ist innings, 50 (Le Pine 4 for 16). 2nd innings, 88. (Whiteside 45 not out; Rigdeh 4 for 23).
