GREENS POPULAR DURING WEEK-END
The Whakatane Bowling Club greens were well filled on Saturday afternoon. It is now becoming apparent that most of the old players are gaining the “feel” of the greens again after the winter spell, and there is a big improvement in th 6 general play of all bowlers. The Wally Smith Stars were played for, the first time this season, and
the holders W.- Smith and S. J. McKenzie, held off a very strong challenge from C. Butler and F. Cockerell. For the R. F. Smith Stars P. Smoljan’s team was too strong for a team lead by H. L. Drube, and Smoljan won by 23 to 14. ' Full results:— Wally Smith Stars: W. Smith, S. J. McKenzie 19 v C. Butler, F. Coc:kerell 17; R. F. Smith Stars: R. Stewart, D. Butler, E. Grant, P.
