Monthly Meeting Of Edgecumbe W.I.

In spite of the garden party’s having been unavoidably postponed, members of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute spent an enjoyable afternoon at the monthly meeting in the Presbyterian Hall. Mrs H. M. Carter presided over a good attendance. A demonstration of posy making was given by Mrs V. Peck. Members were intrigued with the materials used. Some posies were made from maize, while another very attractive spray was composed of fish scales. Delegates the recent A. and P. Society Ladies’ Committee meeting gave their report. Birthday sprays were presented to Mesdames O. , Marx, D. Spence and S. Hodson. Items were given by the Institute Choir a wall competition was won by Mrs S. Runciman. The competition, a design for a new banner, was won, by a large majority, by Mrs T Blair. Other monthly competitions:— Flowers, Mrs Carter 1, Mrs Perkins 2, Mrs Martin 3;, vegetables, Mrs Blake 1, Mrs Crang 2.
