Successful Opening Day Of Whakatane Bowling Club
The Whakatane Bowling Club held a most successful opening day on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of bowlers and visitors from other Clubs as well as a number of women spectators. •
Mr C. Good, president, in extending a welcome to visitors expressed the wish that all would have a' good season’s bowling. He read a telegram of good wishes from the club’s patron, Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. Mrs Good, president’s wife, then threw the first jack and declared the season open. A competition bowls scramble was won by Mr C. Loane. Results:— ~

Yesterday afternoon the President’s team played the Vice-Presi-dents team, the latter team winning by 94 to 61 points. 'The play-off for the teams with the biggest win was won by P.
