What Every Good Balloonist Wears

On his 287th balloon ascent, Charles Dollfus, of Paris, aged 56, showed Britons what a well-dress-ed balloonist should wear. Dollfus wore a canary-yellow cap, brown plus fours, white socks, red pullover, yellow tie and blue sports jacket. He had balloons embroidered on his breast pocket, on his pullover, and two tattooed on his body. He also carries a hunting horn, and said every good balloonist should have one—to warn pedestrians he was coming down.
