Not Our Fault

Hopes of the Edgecumbe Progressive Association that sealing is to be done around the station roads at Edgecumbe this year were dashed at last week’s meeting of the Whakatane County Council when councillors and the county engineer denied all knowledge of such an intention. 1, Cr R. C. Leslie suggested that the annual meeting of the Association “may have been misreported.” He is mistaken. The charge has been fully investigated and the published report was accurate.

References to the sealing, the Association believed the Council to have contemplated were quoted verbatim from the Association’s annual report, which was presented at the meeting by the president, Mr H. M. Carter, and of which a copy was handed to the press for publication.
