PUBLICITY WANTED FOR RANGITAIKI CALF ASSOCIATION
As many parents are directly interested in the movement, some indicating of the aims of the Association should be made public, it was decided at a meeting of the Rangitaiki Plains Calf Club Association, presided over by Mr A. H. Adams. To achieve this end a publicity officer was appointed.
The chief aim of the Association was stressed. It is to encourage child effort; in this respect the field days differ from A.-and P. Shows where the emphasis is on the type of animal presented. It was pointed out that the education of the child in selecting animals of gobd type must not be lost sight of, but that the aims of the movement would be satisfied only if a pupil’s effort is recognised and rewarded. Awards are made under two headings viz., Care and handling, and type and the club intends to re-arrange its judging to encourage the former. The shildren are now busily preparing calves for the field days which commence late in November. The Group Field Day is to take place at Otakiri this year, where calves from Opouriao, Taneatua, Awakeri, Edgecumbe, Thornton, Manawahe and Otakiri will be judged. a
