Hall Decorations Strikingly Done At Murupara Ball
Decorated with the club colours, maroon and white, and with coloured streamers hanging from wheels suspended from the ceiling a striking festival atmosphere was created in the Rangitahi Hall for the annual ball of the Murupara Football Club. A large and gay crowd attended and a colourful selection of frocks added to the festive air.
The buffet supper was served by Mesdames Ngamotu and Katene* assisted by Misses S. Hall, W. Hall and H. Ngamotu. Music was supplied by the Minginui orchestra, and the M.C. was Mr D. lawa.
During the evening, the patron, Mr C. Heard, and the president, Mr G. Stunell, presented the trophies as follows:
Murupara Club—Senior: Bird Memorial Trophy and Senior Championship. Junior: Rotorua Bus Co. Shield and Bidois Banner. Ruatahuna—Seven a side Creaner Memorial Cup. Medals: D. Wilson and F. Higgins, Galatea.
Amongst those present 'were:— Mesdames C. Heard, emerald embossed marocain; Ngamotu, brown and gold frock; Katene, black skirt, with gold bodice; F. Gibbs, black marocain; H. Bird, black and white frock; G. Stunell, royal blue and cherry; H. Holst, black suede silk, with silver sequin trimming; D. Cameron, wine lace; R. Hepi, blue taffeta and silver applique; Nicholls, blue silk net and black velvet; I. Howe, pink marquisette; R. Heard, blue and green floral spun silk; R. Gear, pink and green floral crepe; Rewi, .green taffeta; Misses D. Maher, rust and gold frock; G. Maxwell, white crepe pleated skirt, gold'trimmings; D. Dixon, blue taffeta; J. Paul, black taffeta and net; K. King, peach silk with green net over skirt; H. King, blue silk and net; P. Stunell, pink taffeta with black velvet; L. Rogers, black taffeta with white georgette top; S. Hall, black taffeta; H. Ngamotu, gold satin; W. Hall, black silk; I. Iki, wine crepe.
