Taneatua To Have Combined Brownie & Girl Guide Week
Arrangements are well in train for the first week in October, which will see intensive girl guide activity promoted with the idea of arousing the interest of parents, children and the general public •at Taneatua. Until recently the Bay of Plenty was the largest area in New Zealand being served by one Commissioner, Mrs G. Santon, Taneatua. Recently," however, the area was divided and Mrs R.' Ricketts, Taneatua, was appointed Commissioner of the Edgecumbe area and so will relieve Mrs Santon considerably. At Taneatua Mrs Hutchinson has resigned her position as Guide Captain and Miss C. Brunton has accepted the position. Plans for guide week commence with a church parade at the Presbyterian church, Taneatua, on' Sunday, October 2. 'On the following Wednesday at 3.15 p.m. an open guide-brownie meeting will be. held in the Taneatua school grounds when the committee will be pleased to welcome anyone who is interested in guide work. The w.eek concludes with a camp fire at Mr J. Lawn’s farm, Taneatua, on Saturday evening When all the guides of the district will participate.
