WORK ON STATE HOUSES IS NOW WELL ADVANCED
Work on eight of the ten houses in the new state block in Tuhoe Avenue is now well advanced and the last of the buildings are expected to be completed soon. At present four houses have been finished and occupied while another two, each with two bedrooms are expected to be ready for occupation by the end of this month. The four so far occupied consist of two of three bedrooms and two with four bedrooms. Of the other four there are three three bedroom units and one of two bedrooms and these, according to the contractors, should be handed over very soon. At present the carpenters have finished most of their work and are now waiting for the painters, electricians and plumbers to complete their parts of the contract. The remaining two in this block of ten consist of a two berdoom and three bedroom units, Most of the exterior has been finished by the carpenters and they are now proceeding with the interior. It will be some time yet before these are ready for occupation. After this block is finished work is to go straight on with building another eight houses and they should be started within the next few weeks. This block will consist of one double unit of two bedrooms each, one two bedroom house, three three bedroom houses and two of four bedrooms. No indication can be given at present as to when any of these will be completed.
