LOSING GOODWILL

There are so many foolish ways to lose Goodwill. The small traders who dislike having conversations with customers lose it. So do the school teachers who overload their children with homework; and the foreman who cause resentment by constant blaming; and the farmers who are always borrowing equipment; and the Managing Directors who are aloof and unsociable; and the sales people who are disliked by the customers they serve. . Efficiency, you see, is comprehensive. It can be applied to the whole life of a man. Its aim is to make him an all-round success, as a money-maker, a a home-maker, and a good citizen. It develops his ability and his character until he is successful in all the relations of life.

When you win people’s respect, you have done much. When you win their goodwill, you have done more; and when you win their affection you have done most.
