PLEAS OF GUILTY TO INDECENT ASSAULT
Pleading guilty to one charge of unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl, knowing her to be under the age of ten, and two charges of indecent assault against two other girls, knowing them to be under the age of 12, Hauaho Heemi, married, labourer, Waimana, was committed to the Auckland Supreme Court for sentence by Messrs J. Rutherford and S. S. Shapley, J’s. P., in the Whakatane Police Court on Monday. The first ofience was alleged to have taken place on or about August 29, the second between January 1 and January 31 and the third' between July 1 and July 31. The three girls against whom the offences were alleged to have been committed gave evidence and the circumstances in each case proved to be similar. They said accused had committed the offence and then told them not to say anything about it. Further evidence was given by Dave Turuwhenua, Waimana, Constable G. H. Thomassen, Taneatua, and Mata Taauaua Turuwhenua, who is known as the wife of accused. Evidence of his examinations of the three girls was giyen by Dr G. FI. Maaka.
