KEEN DEMAND FOR LAMB PELTS AT FINAL SALE
The New Zealand Meat Producers. Board advises that the sixth and last sale for the season of pickled sheep and lamb pelts under the Pickled Sheep and lamb Pelts Emergency Regulations was held at Wellington last week. Offerings totalled 108 lots comprising 32,420 dozen sheep and 62,991 dozen lamb pelts. A full bench of buyers were present.
Prices for sheep pelts showed a slight easing tendency but the de)t?iq for iamb pelts was keen with prices rising from 5 per cent to riper cent on these of the last sale. The full range of prices realised were:—
Auckland-Bay of Plenty: Sheep 7 s to 78s 6d per dozen. Lambs 43s to 49s 6d per dozen. Hawkes BayEast Coast: Sheep 69s to 75s per dozen, lambs 40s 6d to 45s 6d per dozen. Wellington-West Coast: Sheep 73s 6d to 83s per-dozen, lambs 45s 6d to 50s 6d per dozen. PictonNelson: Sheep 53s to 59s per dozen, lambs 39s to 40s per dozen. Can-terbury-'Otago: Sheep 58s to 66s per dozen, lambs 44s to 49s per dozen. Southland: Sheep 68s to 69s per dozen, lambs 49s 6d to 53s per dozen.
