Waimana Institute Gardening Circle
The August meeting of the Waimana W.I. Gardening Circle was held at Mrs Potter’s home. Waimana, there was a good attendance of members. Mrs M. King presided. A long discussion took place on whether a spring show, »e held -r not, and members felt that owing to so many other activities being held, it should be cancelled for this year, but it will have to be brought up at the next Institute ihceting for all members’ decision. The competitions drew good entries with the following results:— Novel winter decorations, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs J. Mitchell 2. Best flower, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs Hewitt 2 Mrs J. Mitchell 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs J. Mitchell 2 ' After afternoon tea, members had a social chat and then viewed the well-kept garden, Iceland poppies making a very bright showing.- Mrs King thanked Mrs Potter and hostesses for the pleasant afternoon.
