New Water System Will Be Expensive
“How will operational costs with the new scheme compare with the one now being used?” the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, was asked at a public meeting at Whakatane when discussing the new water scheme. The new scheme was a much larger one and the costs would be considerably more Mr Barry replied. The pumps alone would probably require two full-time attendants. However, the water supply to the whole borough would be immensely improved with a better supply of water available for human consumption.
