Poor Attendance At Meeting To Hear Water Loan Scheme
Eleven men, one woman, the borough electrical engineer, two borouh councillors, the town clerk, Mayor and a press representative were all who were present at a public meeting at Whakatane on Thursday night to hear the conditions attached to the new water loan proposal, which were outlined by the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry. During his address Mr Barry was given an attentive hearing and later a vote of thanks was passed for the way in which he had explained the new water scheme to the meeting. Mr Barry also took the oppor'tunity to tell the meeting some of the work of the borough council and the difficulties it had to face each year. The meeting lasted about two hours.
